What does it mean to be Healthy?
After a decade of working as a primary care physician, Dr. Udai Jayakumar became increasingly aware of the limitations of modern medicine. He observed countless premature deaths and disabilities from heart disease, strokes, obesity, and diabetes—conditions often referred to as “diseases of affluence” due to their higher prevalence in high-income countries. This prompted Dr. Udai to explore the substantial body of evidence that was not available during his medical training. He discovered that most people do not consume enough plant-based foods (fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes). While this finding may not seem groundbreaking, the profound impact of this nutritional problem is both astonishing and underappreciated. Through this website, Dr. Udai aims to educate and motivate people to improve their diets and prevent their own health tragedies.
