Dr. Baxter Montgomery – A Modern Day David vs. Goliath: Slaying the Cardiovascular Disease Giant
About the Episode
Dr. Montgomery helps patients achieve optimal health and wellness through various nutrition programs. His goal? To get his patients to think beyond the script, improve their health, and reverse these chronic lifestyle diseases.
Dr. Montgomery is one of the first practicing physicians to discover and put into practice WFPB nutrition to improve outcomes in his cardiology patients. Over 20 years ago, he started putting his patients on raw vegan juice cleanses for 1 week at a time (for 1-4 weeks), eventually allowing his patients to switch to a regular whole foods plant based diet after their conditions stabilized. After the initial cleanse, the plant based diet seems moderate to them. He’s a charming Texan with a great sense of humor. He explains on the PlantStrong podcast that eating meat in moderation doesn’t work because it maintains the addiction, making the person more miserable than quitting cold turkey. The interview is nothing short of inspiring, and it can also be found in the PlantStrong Podcast feed, episode 164.
